Rev. Audrey Hollis, Director of Greater St. Mark Community Food Organizing Committee, is well aware of how devastating limited access to energy can be to low income people. At the October 2007 Black & Green Wednesday she presented slides showing how Cuba was able to adapt to having far less petroleum after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Her discussion focuses on land use and urban gardening. This Green Time (No. 284) is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX. Call 314-727-8554 or contact fitzdon

Small family farmers have been driven out of business and replaced with huge mega-corporations that rely on GMOs and petroleum for everything from pesticides to long-distance transportation of food. Environmental issues of small farms were addressed by digger (Daniel Romano) during his October 2007 presentation to Black & Green Wednesday. Host Don Fitz and guest Steve Hollis of the Missouri Rural Crisis Center also discuss the threat of Confined Animal Feeding Operations. This Green Time (No. 283) is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX.
