Host Don Fitz and guest Daniel (digger) Romano of the Independent Media center question whether lack of food is the cause of hunger and if genetically modified foods will really help. In the second portion of his speech “Everything You Have to Know about Genetically Modified Foods,” Jeffrey Smith explains that the Bt toxin put into plants can exacerbate allergies in humans and is thousands of times more concentrated when used via genetic modification. Small family farmers have been driven out of business and replaced with huge mega-corporations that rely on GMOs and petroleum for everything from pesticides to long-distance transportation of food.
