Host Don Fitz and guests Joyce McCowan and Rev. Elston K. McCowan compare lead problems in rural Missouri and inner cities. They look at corporations and governments which blame the victims of lead poisoning and how citizens are often not told of how dangerous an area can be. This Green Time (No. 327) includes the first part of Will Godar’s film “Unleaded.” It is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX. Call 314-727-8554 or contact fitzdon

Hey everyone. Maurice Rowe here. If you want to make your voice heard and earn $$$$$$ while doing so, then the next focus group is for you. Remember that the focus groups are very short, only about and hour or so. You will be asked about 6 questions and that's it. You are paid for your valuable time on the spot! The groups are very fun and open. All the participants who have come have left with much more than they came in with. So when is the next one you ask? It is Saturday June 6th at 7pm at the CAMP building, 3026 cherokee street.
As part of a grant-fund project by the GGEF, we are seeking to meet with city residents to see how you feel the city is handling lead and housing issues. The focus groups go for about an hour and a half. There will be refreshments and you earn $20 for participating! So if you love sharing your views or know someone who does, I'll see you at CAMP, located at 3026 Cherokee St. in South St. Louis.
The next two scheduled focus groups will be Tuesday April 14th at 7pm. And on Tuesday April 28th at 7pm. Both will be at the CAMP building. If you have kids, we have plenty of things to keep them occupied. Be sure to check out the CAMP calendar at http://stlcamp.org/event for other events too.
Hey everyone. This is Maurice Rowe again with news of the next focus group dealing with housing and lead issues. The next one will be Saturday, April 4th at 2pm at the CAMP building. We have gathered lots of view points and good suggestions on how to get them realized. Again, I invite and encourage us to come out to share our views. And earn a cool $20 bucks for doing so. Thanks

In October 2008 parents expressed concern with lead contamination at Roe School, the new location of the Early Childhood Center. After pressure, the appointed Special Administrative Board (SAB) said that money for lead abatement was found. Months since the problem was made public, has the SAB removed the lead? Host Don Fitz, School Board member Donna Jones, and Daren O’Brien, Vice-President of Kennard CJA PTO, discuss the role of St. Louis government in protecting children’s health. This Green Time (No. 310) is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX.
The Gateway Greens will be holding its first focus group discussion of
lead poisoning and housing issues at…
7:00 pm, Thursday, December 11, 2008
CAMP Bldg, 3026 Cherokee [at Minnesota]
We have 6 people scheduled to participate but really need 8-12.
We are desperately in need of someone to take notes.
The discussion will cover four issues:
1. What do you like about the City’s approach to lead poisoning prevention?
2. How would you like the City’s to improve its approach to lead poisoning?
3. What do you like about the City’s approach to the housing crisis?
